How to convert a 13, 19, 20, 21, 25 and 27 inch broken home TV to an arcade monitor or replace a chassis from any low resolution (CGA, used in Cherry master, Mortal Kombat, Ms. Pacman, and most arcades games) :

Note: To do this, you must have knowledge of electronics since there are more than 20,000 volts on most TV's.  I buy broken TV's in TV Repair Shops for about $10.00 each.  Sometimes they want to get rid of them and they will give them away for free or you can also find them on the street. Always make sure to discharge the high voltage on the CRT before removing  any wires. Sometimes the voltage can be present even if they tv have not been ON for a few days. !!!!!

A good CRT is usually dark gray.  If the CRT is brown then the CRT is old and the picture will not be very good.
You can use this inf. to replace a broken chassis from any arcade monitor brand.
CRT means: Cathode Ray Tube.  It is the tube or the screen of a TV.

 To check the size of a monitor you can also measure it, just measure from one corner of the part that shows picture to the opposite corner:

To identify TV size you can look in the back of the CRTwhere you will find some numbers. Between one of the numbers ( after the letter "A")  you will find:

51 = 20 inches CRT
48 = 19 inches CRT
63 = 25 inches TV
66 = 26 inches TV
68 = 27 inches TV
34 = 13 inches TV
36 = 14 inches TV

This is the picture of a Yoke.

The wires on the Yoke are :
Green and Yellow : for Vertical Deflection & Blue and Red : for Horizontal Deflection
Note: to connect the vertical and horizontal connector, choose one of the 2 rows of pins in the board. Make sure you use one row, don't mix them. The 2 which are closer is for vertical and the 2 most separated are for Horizontal.If the screen is upside down or the letters are reverse, swap the 2 vertical wires or the 2 horizontal until you have a good picture. Don't do it with while the monitor have power. Example if you think that the vertical is reverse, swap green and yellow or if it is the Horizontal swap red and blue.

 For 13, 19, 20 and 21 inch TV's:

Find a TV.  The TV could be a broken one since you are only going to use the CRT with the yoke.  The connector for the neck board must be of a specific type and most TV's have this type (see picture below).  Measure the ohms of the vertical winding on the yoke (usually Green and Yellow! Red and Blue are horizontal deflection).

The measurements should be between 11 to 17 ohms (Low Impedance) or more than 37 ohms. (High Impedance). You must also note what type of neck board you need: 8 pins or 10 pins.

Look at this picture :     This is a 10 pin neck board connector.
After you have done this, call me or Email me with this information :

Pins: __________________
Vertical ohms ( green and yellow): __________________
Size of CRT: ___________
I will then be able to sell you a Chassis that will convert your TV (or replace your Arcade Monitor's Chassis) to an arcade Monitor.

Picture of a chassis.

 To replace a monitor:

Install the Monitor and connect the 120 volts wires, if there is not a plug, cut the 2 black wires and connect it to the 120 volts. The video have a connector wich might not be compatable so just cut the connector and attach the wires by color: Red with red, blue with blue, green with green, black with black. If there is only one white or yellow connect it to the white one, if there are 2 wires, white and yellow, connect both to the white one ( this is the sync).
Adjust the monitor if necessary.

   For 25, 26 and 27 inch Monitor:

You must find a CRT with these specifications:

         Measure the vertical ohms, it should be 6 ohms to 12 ohms. Provide the following information :

  Note: if the horizontal ohms is less than 1.5 ohms , take a 5 to 10 watt 1 ohms resistor and add it in serie to the circuit to increase the ohms ....

             Red wire: Horizontal : ...............10 watt 1 ohms resistor............to yoke
          blue wire:     hoziontal: ..................................................................to yoke

 Size of the CRT: ______________
Vertical ohms: ________________

All 25 inch or bigger CRT's are 10 pin connector.

Note:To convert our Chassis (13 to 21 Inches) from High Impedance (40 to 60 ohms) to Low Impedance (11 to 17 ohms), you must change the parts as outlined in the following table :

Part
High Impedance Low Impedance
C412 220 uF / 50v 470 uF / 50v
R402 3.3K ohm 1.2K ohm
R420 5.6 ohm 3.3 ohm

Note:All Resistors are 1/4W                   R = Resistor & C = Capacitor
